Sounds greatNov 05, 2006 Easy installation, and the sound quality is great. Wanted to find a way of using my PC as my music input. Found this device that connects your receiver to your PC, and the sound quality is great.
Pro HIFI-LinkJul 02, 2006 Works great! Couldn't be any easier. Even the cables needed are supplied. Just plug and play with XP.
Fantastic product to connect your computer to your stereoMay 17, 2006 This is an excelllent device for connecting your PC/laptop to your stereo especially if you have a Toslink optical or digital coaxial input to your audio/video receiver or if you have an outboard digital to analog converter(DAC). The reason for this is that the music is now coming directly off your hard drive and by-passing the crappy sound cards found on most computers and you are now using a superior DAC on your A/V receiver or external DAC. If you have both digital and Toslink optical connections, digital is the better of the two. This has nothing to do with the product, digital coaxial connections are always better than optical - although, it is not a dramatic difference. Set-up could not be easier - even a caveman could do it. I plugged the USB cable into my laptop and the other end into Pro Hi-Fi Link and XP instantly recognized and installed it. I connected the digital cable to the unit and to the digital input on my stereo and - that's it! Seconds later absolutely excellent quality music was coming out of my stereo. If you have a quality stereo and/or are a critical listener, I would definitely recommend ripping your CD's at 320 kbs because with this set-up you will hear the difference compared to standard 128 kbs rips. In fact with external drives becoming so cheap, I plan on ripping all my CD's in full-file format. Excellent quality cables are supplied with the unit for all three types of connection.

for digital recievers onlyDec 12, 2005 I purchased this product from a local retailer, and returned it. Using the included RCA jacks the sound was indistingishable from the line out of my sound card. Note: at first I was amazed by the sound quality, but we did a little double blind test and I could not tell the difference. Interesting how subjective sound can be.
High quality components, and very simple install.

Really helps bring sound to lifeDec 05, 2005 Installing this went without hitch on my Toshiba laptop with Windows XP Pro and also I'm using the provided RCA audio cables. I initially bought this because I had hooked up with AOL Radio and wanted better quality than what I could get from my headphone jack to my home audio system. Since installing it, I tried a couple of other music radio streaming services, such as MusicMatch and Rhapsody. MusicMatch has good channels but I find the sound thru the Pro HiFi-Link to sound somewhat tinny regardless of what I try to do to correct it via equalization. I think it may be that that service is more geared towards playing thru portable audio devices rather than a home loudspeaker system. But, once I discovered the quality I could get with Rhapsody's Radio service, I would not want to be without the Pro HiFi-Link now! The separation and clarity is incredible, I have to keep going into the room when the audio equipment is to make sure there isn't a band performing there in person! With acoustic guitar, for example, it sounds like someone is right there doing the pickin'! I've greatly enjoyed the quality of the digital audio channels I get thru DirectTV when I run them thru my home audio system but, I must say this surpasses them quite noticeably.
