Poor Customer Service Dec 13, 2006 I love satellite radio but I would be cautious about buying an Xact unit. Xact products carry a 12 month warranty. At exactly 13 months the unit stopped working. Xact customer service informed me they were no longer responsible for the unit. Before buying this product search the web and you will find many "13 month" stories. Instead, I would suggest buying directly from Sirius.
Design flaw confirmed, however check this fix out:Sep 14, 2006 I agree with all of those who had the same experience as I did.
For the first couple of months, I had no problems. I found the unit actually sounds pretty good and has good bass and overall sound despite not having EQ functionality. But then, I started to notice the "click" of death. That is, the unit seemed to just make a click sound and then power off for no reason. I would reset the receiver into the box and it would work for a couple of minutes and then it would power off again. The deal is that, as mentioned by others, you have to keep holding the receiver super hard into the cradle for it to work at all. Obviously, it's a dud at this point.
But then, after trying a bunch of different things, I found a work-around solution:
With the receiver out of the boombox, take a medium paper clip and hook one end around the center connecting stem. Hold it there and push the receiver down firmly with the paper clip between the bottom of the receiver and the boombox cradle, then turn it on. For some reason, this has worked without any loss of power for the last 9 months. Obviously, I can't say if this will work for yours, but give it a shot. With this work-around, I have have no problems and been happy with my setup.
FYI, before I noticed the paper clip trick, I had inserted a thin steak knife in the middle and it worked (!?), but of course it's not very asthetically pleasing.
Also, a more industrious individual may try attatching a small washer or anything else you can think of.
Good luck.
My next purchase is going to be a Stilleto.

Hey Howard!!!Aug 06, 2006 This boombox is cool. The sound is very good and everything plugs right in. High gloss black plastic gives it a hi-tech look. This is a great way to take your XAct receiver with you. "After all, ya gotta hear what Howard is going to say next." You can't go wrong !!! Enjoy.
So far no problemsJul 29, 2006 After reading some reviews I had a lot of doubts about this product but I ordered it anyway being that it is the only boombox for my Sirius reciever. It has worked great so far, the converter is huge, but other than that the sound is above average and there are no problems connecting the reciever to the boombox.
DESERVES ZERO STARS!!!!May 24, 2006 This item is such garbage!!!! The only way the receiver stays on when docked into the boom box is by pushing down very hard and keeping your hand there or putting a water melon on top of the receiver balanced by a water bottle. I've exchanged my boom box twice and receiver once--the manufacturer will not refund me, ahhhhhhh such frustration!!!!!!!!! Not to mention 3 times I've had to stand in line at the post office and all the money spend on shipping and insurance. Save yourself the headache do not purchase this product.
