Works greatNov 21, 2009 I have used dental irrigators for > 20 years. This model works great. Highly recommended.
Very exciting :-)Nov 21, 2009 My dentist was recently complaining about my dental pockets, blah, blah, blah, so I decided I should probably do more than brush twice a day. Flossing has never been an exciting option for me, so after checking on other possibilities, I chose the Waterpik. My parents had one ages ago and I remember it as an 'adventure' :-) Water, water, everywhere.
Not much has changed overall. The Waterpik still cleans your teeth (and sometimes your walls!) and in between more effectively than any other option. Sure, the Sonic toothbrushes try to clean under the gum line, but none come close to the ability of the Waterpik to do the job.
One big concern in the past has been keeping the unit itself clean. I just drop a tablet of Potable Aqua (also from Amazon.com) in the tank before starting to not only keep the tank, hose, and tip clean but to remove the bacteria and viruses from my teeth as well. You can buy similar chlorine dioxide solutions as a mouth rinse from Smartmouth, Therabreath, etc. or purchase the less expensive option from Potable Aqua.
Overall, highly recommended. And, amusing as well :-)
Good but...Nov 19, 2009 if you have not a power outlet in your bathroom first you have to install one and after take care about safety against voltage. In rest it's good and very useful
Quiet/Repairable WaterpikNov 19, 2009 After having to replace my two previous Waterpiks for leaking hoses (they would become brittle and break), I was extremely happy to see that the hose and pik are now replaceable. The machine is much, much quieter than the previous ones.
v.good BUTNov 16, 2009 just bought this waterpik,initial thoughts were very positive
* nice big water tank
* adjustable water jet is great
* small and compact
* even the legnth of the water hose is ok
BUT i read of the leakage of the base/tank so i thought i would not fill the tank up each time
but fill the tank with a glass to save wear and tear on the water "connection" seal
.........but alas only after a few days there is a puddle under the waterpik
seems like we can send a man to the moon, but we can't make a waterpik leekproof
