This heater is a quiet, no hot spot, plastic-enclosed safe heater. It is designed for, and works best in, relatively mild climates or for making a single room more comfortable. If your nighttime temps regularly drop below 30 degrees, this is not the heater for you, unless it is used as a single room backup. If you live in a climate like I do, San Francisco, where low temperatures are frequent but of minimal duration, this heater is perfect. To expect a relatively low-wattage appliance to heat your entire home to 75 degrees from 35 degrees in 20 minutes is ridiculous.
Good Things in Small PackagesNov 17, 2009
Am thrilled with the efficiency of this product. Bought it to heat one room only, farthest away from HVAC system with a concrete slab room bordering garage, etc. It works extremely well and the heat even gets pushed into other rooms. No need to run it continuously when we're in the room. Caveat: temps have not gotten below 30 yet! It's not winter, but so far, I'm pleased with this little guy.

I was hestitant at first to purchase this "whole room" heater, having purchased three other heaters previously. However, based on the majority of positive reviews and having seen other Vornado heaters for sale in the past at stores, I took a calculated chance.
When I first received the item, I didn't realize it was, in fact, the heater I ordered. I thought the box was far too small for what I was expecting. And when I took the product out, I was more surprised as to how small the heater truly was. It appeared to be a space or personal heater. I was disappointed thinking that there was no way this small heater could heat a "whole room".
I COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!
I fired this little baby up, left the room (the coldest room in the house) and my wife went in before me and had to turn the heater down, the room had become so warm. I like the simple, yet informative display of the digital panel. The enclosure never gets hot and the output is a comforting warmth.
This heater really delivers on its "whole room" promise. The room that this heater is in is about 300 square feet. But, the Vornado warms it up in less than 20 minutes and needs to be turned down after a total of 30-40 minutes.
It's not often that you can purchase an item and it performs as the manufacturer claims, but this is one product that exceeds its performance claims, in my view.
I will certainly buy Vornados in the future. They have my trust and confidence in their products.

I live in an older condo (built in the 50's) with parquet wood floors and high ceilings. The only source of heat in the main living area is a small wall unit in an awkward corner of the living room. I wanted something small and portable to provide a little extra warmth. This Vornado heater works as advertised... it emits a stream of warm (not hot) air and is virtually noiseless. I have it placed on an area rug and though the surface under the heater gets slightly warm, it is not a concern. The plug and cord seem durable and do not get hot or even warm as the reviews of other heaters indicated.
Several reviewers of this heater said that it takes a while to heat up a room and/or the room never really gets warm. I think it depends on the size of the space you're trying to heat and whether or not this is the only source of heat you're using.

I was very disappointed in this item. It cost close to $100.00 and I have a $29.00 heater that heats better, faster and the fan moves the heat in a greater area. I guess I was expecting a heater that was heavier and had more options. I have learned my lesson, when I purchase an item that costs this much I will go to a local store and compare first or not order on line. I would say that this heater was comparable to one that costs around $40.00 when I compared it after it arrived.
