1Very DisappointedSep 16, 2009
This product did not meet my expectations. I am very disappointed in the sound quality and would like to hook it up to better speakers. Unfortunately, this isn't possible because it isn't equipped to hook into other speakers. My computer supports an upgrade in speakers. I would expect a radio/record player to do the same.

5saving vinylSep 12, 2009
What a wonderful way to save my old vinyl to cd's. It makes the music portable and gives me satisfaction that much of my music will remain in mint condition. I have hooked up a reel to reel to the aux port and find I can also save some really old tapes to cd as well. I am delighted.

4TEAC LP-R400Aug 12, 2009
The TEAC LP-R400 does everything it is supposed to do with ease. Directions were extremely easy and efficient- I am a total no-tech person and I had the entire thing up and running- recording records to CDs within about 15 minutes.
Records are easy to record and the CDs sound great. You get a spacing option for tracks (from what I understand the present technology for records to CDs still makes the user do this manually).
My only very slight complaint is that the speakers could be a bit stronger. But I really didn't get this to PLAY records, but to RECORD them, and for that feature, the TEAC functions magnificently.

Records to CD very well. Sound of CD played on stereo equipment is outstanding. Very easy to use.

3Beware of CDs Promoted for Purchase with unit.Jun 08, 2009
I read all the reviews for the TEAC LP-R400 before buying it. Several raised the issue of Amazon promoting recordable CDs that won't work with the unit. These reviews had been around a while so I naively figured Amazon must have corrected this problem. They have not. The discs are recordable but not digital. So I have 50 CDs that I will use eventually, but now I need to go out and find digital recordable discs. It's annoying though not a major problem. Otherwise, the unit appears to work well. It's attractive. I don't know yet if it can record, but I'm optimistic.
