5Great stuff!Jan 08, 2010
As a recording artist and music enthusiast, I would definitely recommend these speakers to anybody who wants to have a genuine listening experience. I just got 'em and they've been nothing short of great. Not to mention they're dirt cheap at $35.

5Great Speakers for the priceNov 10, 2009
I have had these speakers for over 2 years now. I consider myself an audio file considering my home system I have spent about as much as a small BMW. I have listen to many computer speakers, Logitech, klipsch, bose. And for $40 or less you get good separation a nice clean base and they don't take up a lot of room. The sub is small but does the job. I have a 2 story house and at medium volume my wife down stairs is telling me to turn it down. As far as looks, if you have the new imac they match perfectly. I can't recommend these speakers enough. Bang for the buck I doubt if you could do much better.

3Okay Speakers. Expected More..Mar 15, 2009
There is NO bass control which I found a little odd. I really think these need to be 20-30$ speakers. Had I tested this in a store I would have rather spent the extra money for the logitech ones. Since I am in a small room anyhow these speakers are sufficient and haven't had any issues yet.

3Great for a house, bad for an apartment.Feb 14, 2009
On the "pro" side, the bass is very good but that is also number one on the "con" side! The bass is too much. When I lived in an apartment building (and unlike some of my neighbors I actually had consideration for the comfort of others in the building) I could not have the volume up very high at all or the bass would be thundering through the walls and the floors. There is no bass adjustment knob on the set, and the set does not come with software for controlling it either. The only way to control it is through the equalizer of specific programs you are running, but running generally in the OS you can't adjust it.

The treble is not great. It is very muffled--especially by the excessive bass--and is hard to hear when you are listening to the spoken word on your computer as opposed to music listening when it is more forgivable. If you listen to a lecture online, it will sound like the speaker is inside a trunk delivering the speech to you. If you turn it up so you can hear then the bass gets too powerful. I even put the woofer as far away from the desk--and pointed in another direction too--as I could but the treble is still terrible. Finally, to add insult to injury, there is no way to disconnect the subwoofer and leave it out of the equation, which is what I would do if I could. The speakers are plugged into the sub and there is no way to run only the speakers and not the sub at the same time. Stymied at every turn!

In a house, where I can have the volume louder without being inconsiderate to my neighbors, this is less of an issue. In an apartment it is a pretty big issue, however. For an apartment, I would highly, highly recommend going with the awesome JBL Duet speakers available right now on Amazon. Why didn't I go with them? I have before in the past but this new computer desk I have wouldn't allow them to fit right hence I went and bought these Sonys. Now that I am in a house and can crank them I am much happier with them, but I have to give them 3 stars total because 2/5 for apartment and 4/5 house equals 3/5. Hope this helps you in your decision.

5Probably the best you will find for fifty bucks...Jan 17, 2009
I'm no techie, and I'm no music snob either. But I gotta say, I tested these $50 speakers out against a similar Bose model for $139, and could hear no difference.

If you just want to listen to music and watch movies, these are great speakers, probably the best you will find for fifty bucks. Simple, streamlined, easy to connect, and great sound.
