4Some great Gym/running specific featuresNov 20, 2009
I bought this to use in the gym. I was pleased with the sound quality. I found the sound quality not as good as my iriver but better than my ipod. This has a great little feature that changes the play list to slower or faster paced music depending on your pace. The music change sometimes gave me a little push to continue my workout if for some reason I had wimped out early. You could also change music by giving it a shake. It did require a learning curve and I hadn't figured out all the features before I was given an ipod for Christmas. I didn't have issues with the software but I was using Windows XP. I sold mine but I admit that I do miss some of the features when I use my ipod at the gym.

1THE Worst mp3 player on the marketMay 07, 2009
I only wish I could subtract 5 starts off of it. The player's interface is the most horrific, clumsy, and outright annoying!! The mandatory Sonic software to transfer and organize music has been amply and neagtively addressed before by many reviewers, but I will still say what a messy, incomprehensible, sluggish, bulky, and overall unpleasant piece of software it is!! There was some freeware floating around to replace it. I tried but it is quite buggy to begin with. In other words, if you own a large mp3 library, forget about convenience of drag-and-drop and welcome to the twisted world of Sony/Sonic. I understand that pirated music is a big problem nowdays, but it is not for Sony to decide to curb it via lame hardware implementations. I tell you, my only desire after using it for a day was to smash it with a hammer in small pieces and send pictures to Sony to enjoy. Anyways, sorry for some harsh words here but this player truly deserves them and then some!

1overpriced, over engineered sony crapDec 28, 2008
Cons - No way to use this product without Sony's propietary software, you cannot drag and drop MP3s onto it, doesn't work with Windows Media Player or anything else except SonicStage which is a notorious piece of junk. I hate the idea of installing any Sony software after the spyware stuff they were dropping on peoples PCs a few years ago.

Pros - Good sound quality

I recieved this as a Christmas present, would rather she had given me bird flu. Will probably tell her I lost it at the gym or something like that.

Get a Creative or an Ipod or something else...

1I wish I could get a refund!!!!Mar 31, 2008
I bought this item, the Sony NW-S203F Music Player , sight unseen, for my wife as a belated Valentines Day gift. I did not realize it at the time that it is not simply an MP3 player. You must use Sony's proprietary music program to load it, and this entails loading your choices on a CD, and then ripping the CD into the 'Sonic Stage' program, and finally loading them into the player. The player does not recognize the MP3 format, so you must go through this idiot drill each time you want to update the contents. Never mind that it must be charged through its USB cable, and it suffers a short battery life. I thought it would be a welcome addition to my wife's walking routine, but she used it once, and on my desk it sits! It's not very intuitive to use, either. I really would like a refund on this piece of sub-standard detritus, but the seller sold it in good faith, and unfortunately, it functions as it was designed. I hope that other people can see this review, and plan their purchases accordingly. Sorry about the long rant, but it does not sit well with me.........Sincerely, Ray Franks
