 Not really for high end audioNov 10, 2009
I guess everything worked like it was meant to, but I just didn't like the sound quality using the Sony in receiver mode patched into my home stereo amp which is connected to older model large JBL speakers. There seemed to be distortion especially in the mid range so I did an experiment where I used an audio switch device to compare the sound of the Sony Bluetooth device and a direct cable hookup. Switching back and forth on several pieces of music there was a very noticeable distortion that was completely absent with the direct cable. Now in fairness to Sony the distortion could have been caused by my Jabra A120s Bluetooth transmitter, but I don't think so because I get wonderful sound quality listening to my Motorola Bluetooth headphones. I am sure I was in range, the transmitter was within 12feet from the Sony receiver and in the same room. Another thing could have been that the Sony model was a factory reconditioned unit and maybe they didn't thoroughly check out a defective unit, so I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1. I got refunded promptly from Amazon seller Lots of Deals 4U. I think for now I am going to stick with direct cable.

What sets this particular wireless audio bridge apart is the fact that it can act as a transmitter as well as a receiver. I haven't tried using it as a transmitter but here are my findings on its operation as a wireless receiver.
Its setup is a cinch. It pairs very easily. The range is so-so. They claim 10m (30 ft) but it's more like 10ft. Obviously different transmitting devices will behave differently but ... I used my cell phone which can connect to my car from over 10m away (will occasionally inadvertently pick the signal up when it's being serviced, that's how I know).
Some people complain of distortion. I haven't experienced that issue except when my player was on max volume. I'd say decrease the transmitting device's volume and increase it on the player that this receiver is hooked up to. I have a bigger complaint with this thing: tempo-shifting! At the beginning of the song, it speeds the song up (noticeably) and within about 30 seconds slows it back down to normal. How annoying!
Another problem was the fact that this product was advertised for car use yet there is no car charger or even adapter included!!! Very fortunately for me, I was able to rig it using a Kensington USB adapter for a PSP (one for a Walkman also works) which only cost me six bucks. For most people who needed it for their car, it will end up being a door stop (unless they spend another thirty-five bucks for a special car charger).

I have to say this is a great unit for the price and functions it has to offer.
I have used it in my car to transmit Bluetooth sound from my LG Env Touch
to my car stereo. I was able to use my 4.5 volt Sony CD car adaptor for power.
In another vehicle I used a cassette adapter with 3.5 mini coupler to connect
the transmitter.
I have used it as a transmitter for watching TV.
I buy most of my stuff at Amazon. However I purchased a refurb unit elsewhere
for [...]. :-) It works good!

No problems setting it. At first my bluetooth headphones didn't match and they were like 20cm away. The manual said "put the devices closer". I though 20cm was more than enough and simply the devices were unexpectedly incompatible (SONY DR-BT50 headphones) but then putting them at 10cm or so made them pair.
And since them, voilà.

The Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players is a good receiver, I told that because I only use this itme like receiver. The item is very easy to use, is compact and have a excellent quality of sound (I think that this depend of the quality of music used, I use the 260 Kbps to 320 Kbps), this item have only one trouble, the out line volume is low, more than normal, so if you have a good amplifier system, maybe this can't be a problem for you. The real distance for this item works fine is 5 mts
I didn't use this item like transmitter.
For me it's a good product
