Sony CFDSO1 CD Radio Cassette Recorder - SilverFeb 10, 2010 Great performance and the price was much below the quality of such a device. Extremely happy with it and highly recommend it for usefulness and portability. Purchased from Amazon and shipped from N.Y. to MN was fast as hoped for.

CD player worked for about 18 monthsFeb 08, 2010 What you would expect at the price but not what I expected from sony quality. The first one had the decency to quit before the warranty was up. The replacement, the CD player quit about 18 months, the tape still plays but when it stops it makes such a loud snapping noise you would not use it for sleep or meditation, unless waking suddenly is part of your plan. The sony S-350 I received as a gift worked (CD) only a bit longer (the tape does not a loud sound when it stops). My previous combo player had lasted five years, considering it does light duty, a more impressive performance.

EXACTLY what I wanted/needed! :o) *****Feb 03, 2010 I love this little gadget! I received my factory refurbished from DigiDeals yesterday, it works beautifully and was only US$27.00 (+US$7.99 S/H) - US$34.99 total; not bad at all! I already knew and loved the device prior to this purchase, there is another in my home and a third gifted to my grandparents; both were purchased new but my refurbished lacks nothing in appearance or quality. The model has been a hit with my entire family for its ease to use (understood by my young 5 and 8 yr. old cousins as 85 and 95 yrs. young grandparents), compact size, trusted Sony name (our Sony televisions and radios have lasted over 10 yrs. each), great sound (my grandmother is hard of hearing and raves about it, honest) and all the features we need - no more, no less!
As I stated earlier, this is a great product but only if it's what you are looking for: something compact and portable, simple and easy to use, with great sound, at an affordable to play your music on. It has a sleep feature which I enjoy because I like falling asleep to music but not waking in the middle of the night to it or wasting energy when I won't benefit from its sound. If you are looking for the latest features technology can offer or a 5 disc tray, this is not the radio for you. It is mainly output and little input, does not include a microphone jack but comes with a headphone jack and allows cassette recording; none of these do I mind because in my 24 yrs. of life I have never used a microphone jack on my radios, for the rare occasions I want to record a voice cassette I still have an old tape recorder from the early 90 which works just fine (think back to Felicity) and a digital and micro tape recorder. I cannot comment on battery life because I have never used his feature, for this I prefer something even more compact and portable such as my mobile phone.
I have read complaints that some units are unable to read home-recorded CDs, none of our three units (two of them purchased about a year ago) have this issue so I guess it was already addressed by the manufacturer. As with everything, my advice is know what you want and purchase wisely, learn about what you're about to buy and make sure it meets your needs; I cannot stress this enough. Have fun shopping and enjoy your music folks, anywhere you listen to it. :o)
