4I love this, but has it's consMar 16, 2010
I purchased this item about 2 or 3 years ago so I could have a good radio for when I went to the beach. I choose this one because it had a good sounding system that I could hear my music even with the wind and the waves crashing down. It definitely has served it's purpose for me. I can plug my ipod into it, and I still use it for my cds when I'm at home. One thing I did notice, if you're also planning on bringing this down to the beach with you, know that it needs 8 D size batteries because of the power it needs to put out. Also know that you'll need to put it under some sort of shade because mine turns off after being in the sun for too long. One main flaw I found was that I just tried to do some recording onto cassette tapes from cds that I have so I can listen to the tapes in my truck while I drive, but I think that the cassette player on the xplod is broke already. I haven't used it yet before, so I don't know what could have happened to it. It was working at first, recording through the first 5 songs, but then just stopped. I can't get it to work any more. But for those of you who don't need a cassette player can completely disregard this comment. Other than that, I've had no problems with it. It sounds great, and if you love to listen to music and care about good sound quality, this is a great buy.

5Good for the money for a boomboxMar 01, 2010
Personally, I like it and it gave me just what I was expecting to get. It does have good bass response. It costs a little over $100.00 and puts out some boom. It is not close to as loud as my home stereo, but when you divide output difference by cost difference, it was a good deal.
Also, this has 1 5" subwoofer. Now I have home stereos 2x15", a car stereo 2x12" and play bass with 4x10" subwoofers. All of these items each cost over $1000.00. This little portable, battery powered boombox cost 1/10 of the price and is flexible. You get to listen to cds, mp3 players, radio, cassette and you get different subwoofer power settings and different sound type settings. Between that and using your volume control, you can crank it pretty good without much distortion.

Idiots that put something on full blast and wonder why it breaks, well...there idiots. I am very happy with this for the price and don't expect it to sound like a $1000.00 system when it is a $100.00 system. Compare it to those junky MP3 speakers that are everywhere appealing to snobby Starbucks drinkers and you will see this smokes them.

Lastly, the display absolutly sucks. Why even bother with one if that is how pathetic and unmanageable it is. I have a 20.00 radio with a light display that looks great, so there cant be a real money issue with it. Don't be cheap Sony. Realistically, I don't care though. Rather have quality over visibility. I like the hiding jack though. I can attach my shuffle and just close it back up if I wanted to.

4Great sound in a medium packageFeb 27, 2010
The Sony CFDG700CP CD Boombox Radio Cassette Recorder is a great boombox when you need sound that carries. I work in new housing construction, and need a radio that can fill a whole house with music, and the Sony does just that. The only drawback that I have seen is the line-in jack. It is in an awkward place behind a door. The radio gets great reception, and the CD player also plays MP3's. I have not tried it on batteries, as I feel it would eat them quickly at the volumes I play the radio. The controls are easy and well-marked. This one's a real winner.

5ExcellantFeb 13, 2010
If you want the best portable boombox , this is the one , it has great sound and when you pick it up there is something "heavy-duty" about it ,not cheap parts, it plays cd's burnt from puter , MP3's, full function remote, theres only one small , very very minor ,thing a backlit display, otherwise, 11 stars

2Sony Boom BoxFeb 06, 2010
Was looking for a radio that plays tapes and CDs. Got this huge thing I wasn't counting on, but it works except that it eats cassette tapes and is a bit bigger than I'd planned just for moving around from room to room. Plus it's pretty ugly to look at. But the sound is OK.
