4coffee grinderNov 08, 2009
Works great. Very basic. Only grinds while you have your finger on the
on button. Well worth the money though.

5Great product!!Nov 05, 2009
Bought this item just for coffee beans, but have since used it for spices. Love it! The cord winds up inside which makes great for putting it away.

1Too bad I bought it!!!Nov 02, 2009
First, I did not get a Hamilton Beach as stated in Reply Request. It is a Proctor-Silex. I am unhappy with it's inability to grind consistant grounds. It's messy and the top is extremely hard to take off. I wish I would have checked more reviews and perhaps paid a little more. It probably will go into our giveaway box. Jackie Buckley

5I love this bean grinder!Mar 08, 2009
I love this bean grinder. I have had it for about 13 years, and it is still going strong. I am buying another one as a back up just incase it quits on me; I dont ever want to be in a position where i cant grind my beans ;) Anyway, i like it because it is a smaller size, its easy to handle and it does a great job grinding beans. I sometimes use it to grind sugar to a powder form, if i'm out of powdered sugar too.

5Compact Grinder Works Great!Jun 23, 2008
I purchased one of these grinders 7 or 8 years ago to replace my previous grinder. I did not give that purchase much thought - I just needed a grinder. When I used the grinder for the first time I was very pleasantly surprised at how much better this grinder performed than its predecessor.

The best aspect of this grinder is that the blades rotate relatively slowly so the grinding takes place slowly and evenly. I can grind coarse or very fine (not perfect, but good enough for turkish "powder"). I find tilting the grinder back and forth provides very even grinding. I keep mine in a cupboard and the retracting cord stays out of the way when it is stored or taken out to be used. Cleaning is very easy due to the dome-shaped clear plastic top. It is also very compact so I can tuck it into a corner in the cupboard.

I also own an expensive counter-top grinder which allows very precise grinding but honestly, it's overkill most of the time - and it's always in the way. The Proctor-Silex 160B comes out every morning, I dutifully fill it with beans, flip it over while grinding for about 6 seconds, dump the contents into my french press, unplug it, sweep out the excess with a finger and return it to the cupboard - total time invested is less than 30 seconds!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed the plastic blade retainer had cracked (after more than 2,500 uses!). I started casually looking for a replacement and found big, expensive grinders that rotated way too fast. Finally a web search turned up an exact replacement. I bought two for less than $8 each. I expect these may outlast me!
