third battery in 10 months!Oct 31, 2009 unit is reasonably good, except for battery life, my xmp3 is 10 months old and I'm on my 3rd battery, each one after 3 months will only give me 30 minutes of service, at 29.99plus shipping it a joke.....

Love it.. until it breaksOct 26, 2009 This is an awesome device.. when it is working.
I loved mine.
Then it gave me the "powering up" or "please wait" signal of death.
This isn't uncommon.. check out the xm fan message boards to see more.
I used mine pretty heavily.. gym, office, car, home... probably 8-9 hours a day
My wife has a unit too.. .i can only wonder how long it will be before it dies.
Pioneer will replace the unit.. then XM will try to charge you fee to switch the subscription, so then you have to fight them to waive that.
I love XM, and I really want my XMP3 to work, but it is not a reliable product... a good product, but not reliable.
Update: Pioneer did send me a replacement unit.. but get this.. I bought my unit in April, I got my replacement unit 11/12/09. The warranty isn't going to be 1 year from 11/12/09 though.. it's still from April. So basically now i'm down to 6 mo. warranty with what I assume is a refurb.
If you are going to buy this product, this is one time I would HIGHLY suggest purchasing it from a place where you can get an extended warranty.. and i'd buy the most warranty I could possibly get on the product.
It's a great unit.. but reliability is TERRIBLE.
It's OK but better off with iPhoneOct 22, 2009 I bought this device as a music player/radio for my 90 minute train commute to work. When the unit get reception it works fine. However, it must have a clear line of sight to the southern sky to pick up the satellite signal. Walking around town can cause problems if you turn the corner and you lose your signal. The other major complaint is that it takes almost a full minute for the unit to "boot-up" when you turn it on. Very frustrating when you want to use the device as an MP-3 player. The battery life is sketchy. Some days it lasts for more than 4 hours and other days it dies on my way home. It is a matter of routine to charge the unit every night.
On the plus side the ear buds are great. Good sound and they fit comfortably in my ears without any sign of fatigue. The display is bright and clear and it works well when I use it in my car with the car kit. It is a little disappointing that the unit does not play video given the size and resolution of the screen.
If you want XM programming on the go, I would take a look at the XM/Sirius download application for the iPhone. My son listens to XM using the app for the iPhone. His only complaint is when he is not in a 3G area for cell reception. If you are going to use the device in more than one location, then you should take a look at it. However, if you want a music player that has more versatility, look elsewhere.
Love itOct 22, 2009 Being a music lover, i Have fallen in love with this product far better selections than I anticipated.
The buggy-est device I've ever usedOct 20, 2009 I've had this receiver since Nov 08
Replaced the battery once but it did not help the battery life.
Replaced the earbuds right away.
Impossible to listen to live at my location in central California if walking of moving at all.
I listen to recorded programs while walking and bike riding on my local trail and for that it works well.
As an MP3 player it barely acceptable.
If you want portable XM programing there isn't much of a choice but beware of the software bugs.
These bugs are too numerous to address here.
As for any rebate that might be offered, you most likely wont see the check. I didn't
