3It weighs a lot less...Feb 27, 2010
Than the 10 years old black Sharp 3series, which had to go b/c of the color even tho it was still working perfectly. I would have bought a new white Sharp 320 but it's 8-10lbs heavier than the Pana. and the new white kitchen included a suspended MW cabinet. Weigh was a concern and so it was the eventual decider, which is a pity because I liked the Sharp better; it seemed a bit more powerful than this supposedly 1300 watt machine. Its 1 touch minute reheat is a actually a 2 touch affair and strangely, weaker than the old Sharp: lukewarm coffee is far from boiling hot after 60sec reheat. A large mug of room temperature water takes 2minutes to get hot, again not boiling hot.
On the plus side, the turntable is larger than the old Sharp by about 1.5".
The control panel is covered with a thin plastic film which is already lifting at the 1 touch minute button; granted it's used a lot (very seldom do I enter digits from the pad) whether it's reheating the aforementioned coffee and leftovers or baking potatoes or crisping bacon, etc. I don't actually use the MW to do dishes so I haven't even read the manual.
I've had good luck with Panasonic electronics before but this is my 1st appliance from them. The price is very reasonable at Amazon including S&H so I'm not too worried about longevity. Looks may be another story as the plastic film- on that minute button- breaks through in the near future.
2 months later I finally got used to the push instead of the pull to open the door.
All in all, to me it's a good machine for the basic, simple food/beverage heating and reheating that goes on all day in the kitchen. And it's white and light!

4PowerhouseFeb 22, 2010
This is one powerful microwave oven. It has a higher than average wattage, so I sometimes decrease the power setting depending on what I'm using it for. There are more control options than I find necessary, since it is used primarily for reheating rather than cooking. Still, it performs well and is nice-looking, as microwave ovens go.

4Good, but not great.Feb 13, 2010
I was hoping for great! Perfect size--can handle 9X13 dish easily, yet not too tall. No light inside when door is open, but light when operating. Must always push "start", even when using the "quick minute" feature. Must press and hold power button while power counts down to the number you want, or press once for each step down. (Can be annoying if you use low powers often.) Lots of power. Satisfactory overall.

5So far So Good!Feb 12, 2010
Our last Sharp micro (same size as this one) lasted only less than two years so I didn't want to go with another sharp. Our selection is very limited because unfortunately we have to put a micro on the counter and needed to stick with this exact size and color. There's not much to choose from in this size in white!
I really like this microwave. It's very simple to operate and it does a very good job. If our old one was set to say %50 power, you could hear the power going on and off. With this one, it's a constant reduction of power and I believe it cooks more evenly. It's straight-forward and not fancy, which suits us just fine. Appears to be good quality, but time will tell. We've had it only a couple of weeks. The button that opens the door works ok for us, but I can see why some think it's a little flimsy. Not a deal breaker though by any means. It sets against the backsplash, so it doesn't slide, but would if it didn't have that support. Nothing a little rubber under the feet wouldn't take care of.

4Different Door - Light Display - But Works WellJan 24, 2010
Beware that the door pictured here is not the door that is on the microwave. The door actually has bold black and white lines over the screen portion. This may not be an issue for some, but it gave me a headache. Also, as mentioned by others, the display is not very bright and it is hard to see.

These two drawbacks considered, it does seem to have the highest power and most features for a microwave in this price range. So far, working well.
