Best wine saver.Sep 28, 2009 I have tried the nitrogen, CO2 and other pumps, and the Metrokane is working better than expected, the aroma is well preserved and the wine softens a bit. With the nitrogen and CO2 the aroma was usually lost thus the flavor. Before pumping the air out, lift the head pin and moisten the stopper. The stoppers with a gauge are better than without one, visually you can make sure that a full vacuum is done.
Now I can open very good bottles of wine and have 2 wine glasses without having to drink the whole bottle, in some wines the aroma and flavor improves from one day to the next.

Works; needs occasional maintenance; operating tipSep 18, 2009 The product helps extend the freshness of an opened bottle of wine. It is especially effective on reds. I found that moistening the stopper "O-rings" with a little water before inserting in the bottle neck helps improve and extend the seal. After about 9 months, the stopper failed to create a vacuum. I soaked the stopper unit in warm water for 30 minutes, opening and closing the vacuum release pin, and got it working again; I was careful not to submerge the gauge dial. I would recommend this product to a friend, along with these bits of advice.

Rip-offSep 10, 2009 In one word: junk! And besides, wouldn't the bottle collapse if you 'drew' the air out? All I know is it didn't work. And as others have mentioned, the stopper size seems to be too small, at least on mine it is. And I'm talking very nice wines. I like to open a bottle and just have a glass sometimes. Guess, I'll wait for company or drink 'aired' wine.
If you are looking for a disposable wine stopper, this is itAug 27, 2009 These are excellent at removing air from wine bottles and maintaining the pressure in the bottle. UNFORTUNATELY the rubber flanges on the side of stopper that fits into the bottle are so thin that, after only a few uses, they separate from stopper and render the device useless. I bought extra of these stoppers when I first used them and am now throwing them away one-by-one, as the flanges fall off, until they are gone and then revert back to my Vac-U-Vin system that, while not as effective, is of substantially higher quality and last a long time.
stopper fits very loose.Mar 15, 2009 disappointed at the size of the stopper. I tried it on 3 different bottles of wine and it was too small for all of them. It fits so loose that there's no way it could create any air pressure. Any thoughts or suggestions? Could it be defective?
