1Great concept....if it weren't for the leaking!Nov 05, 2009
The flip top and insulation got me to buy this interesting product; too bad that Metrokane failed to make sure their product did not LEAK! Going back to my 3 piece and very cold shaker that does not leak! Very unfortunate that a great idea was poorly produced. I would not waste my $30 on this product.

1Beware!Nov 03, 2009
I love the concept of this shaker, however, the previous reviews about leaking are true. No matter how securely I closed the lid, it still leaked all over the place. What a waste of Grey Goose! It only leaks around the flip-top part, but that is enough to lose a lot of liquor and render this shaker useless.

1Cocktail SprayerOct 09, 2009
This thing is less of a shaker and more of a sprayer. Even gentle shaking as I perform with every other shaker I've owned results in significant leaking. Not a good product.

1Great looking, great idea...but...Oct 02, 2009
This is a great idea product, nice materials, but...
I got one and after just a few uses the flip top stuck open and would not close again.
I contacted the company, told them of my issue and they were very responsive; quick, friendly, etc.
They sent me another shaker free of charge.
Unfortunately, as I was showing someone how cool this product was, one finger flip open...it stuck again. It is like a hyper-extended joint that locks up. And won't close again.
The shaker strains very slowly as well. The hole on the underside of the strainer lid is pretty small. Not a huge complaint, but bothersome.
Anyway, I really want to like this product but the kinks make it unusable.

3Almost, but not quiteSep 14, 2009
The ads and promo video really made me think that this shaker would solve my very personal problems with traditional shakers:

1. The little top on a traditional shaker has a tendency to get stuck.
2. It takes a long time to pour from a tradtional shaker (unless you take the top off and use one of those strainer thingies).
3. If you really care about making a decent drink, your hands are going to be stuck to the shaker before it really gets cold enough.

On the other hand, you can pretty much put all of the parts of any sort of old-style shaker in the dishwasher and have it all clean up without need of a degree in fluid dynamics.

So: The top on this thing flips up and down. Cool. But it doesn't really solve the pouring problem. (Incidentally, I tried changing from icemaker to ice tray to see if it would help. You would too if you lived in Washington State, where liquor taxes have just gone up again.)

Even worse, positioning the top in a dishwasher is very tricky. It wants to trap liquid inside its little nooks and crannies. Even though I think I've worked out how to get it to drain out most of the rinse water, I still feel the need to run it under the tap.

Bottom line is that it solves the problem in #1, is no help with #2, and does help with #3 if you have sensitive hands. I'm probably going to buy a strainer and go back to something slightly less complicated.
