Garlic Press ReviewNov 19, 2009 I guess it's worth it. I've seen copycats that are less expensive that seem to have the same design.
Easy to useNov 17, 2009 Replaces a zyliss that I had for many years. I like this one better easier to clean and easier to use I have small hands and doesn't require as much exertion.
Kick-*** Garlic PressNov 15, 2009 This garlic press was given to me as a gift and I wish that I'd thought to spend the extra money on a good quality one years ago. I happen to know that my friend paid quite a bit more for this item, so this amazon price is pretty good. Every few years my run-of-the-mill cheapo versions would break at the connecting point. I'd have to go out and search for another one with thick handles because I have arthritis in my hands and need thick grips to be able to use it comfortably.
This is definitely a KICK-*** garlic press. It's the best one I've ever owned and it's jumped to the top of my list of favorite kitchen items. I LOVE IT. It also happens to look rather elegant.
Not only does it press the garlic clove completely flat -- with ease!, even for a weak-handed arthritic like me! -- but you just have to flip it open and scrape the thin film of garlic skin into the compost pail with a nice flat knife blade. Dead easy. And when you wash it, the high quality metal does not grab little threads of garlic and hold onto them, the way the cheapo ones do. I haven't had to use a brush on it yet, though I have been giving it a quick rinse as soon as I scrape out the garlic skin.
Wonderful. Logical. A dream to clean. What more could you ask for?
buy it- you won't regret it!Nov 13, 2009 This garlic press is solid! It is stainless steel, so it won't absorb the garlic smell like plastic garlic presses.
It is easy to use and easy to clean. Cooking is so much easier now that we don't have to chop our garlic.
Yeah, you really should spend $35 on this.Nov 09, 2009 OK, I admit it. I am one of those people who finds the process of peeling and mincing garlic an irritation in an otherwise pleasurable experience. I love to cook so why that is, I do not know. Anyway, I started to rely on jarred minced garlic to avoid the hassle. And then, the Kuhn Rikon garlic press entered my life *angels sing*.
Along with finding out that you can microwave garlic cloves (up to 10, arranged in a circle) for 10 seconds and the skin will pop right off, this press is amazing. The "action" is simple, authoratative and straight-forward, producing PERFECT minced garlic, and YOU CAN CLEAN IT IN SECONDS. The two-part hopper allows you to rinse the residue off with zero effort. Done. It kind of makes you shake your head wondering why you endured lesser garlic presses for so many years.
Worth every single cent. Mmmmmm. Garlic.
