Great iPhone clock!Sep 22, 2009 I'm very happy with this purchase. I went to a brick and mortar store to test sound quality on clock radios that support iPhone and this was the best sounding in this price range. You can turn up the volume quite loud and not get distortion that most other units displayed. Charges the phone without problem. Nice remote control. Dimmable display so I can sleep in the dark!
It's not perfect of course... It has an simple wire antenna for radio which can be unsightly. The volume control is a flush ring that is slick and can be hard to adjust (I end up licking my finger to make it tacky ala turning a page in a book (gross, I know), or using the remote). Odd input selection between radio, line-in and iPod (dedicated button for all but iPod which you must press the Play button instead.) Even though it's compatible with iPhones, I still get a message every time I plug it in asking if I want to turn airplane mode on. I called iHome about this last issue and they said I should try plugging it into a different outlet... not sure how that'll help, but I plan on trying.
Even with the longish list of cons, none have put me off this great clock radio because it sounds pretty darn good for a clock radio!
an awesome product for any ipod/iphone ownersSep 02, 2009 This is my first iHome and I am very happy I bought it. I hesitated to buy one for a while thinking I could spend my money on different, more important things but now that I have it, I never should have waited. It has replaced my old alarm clock and lays next to my bed on my nightstand. I use it ALL the time. The look of the iHome is elegant and the build quality is great. The time is easy to read and all the functions are easy to use.
I use this with my iphone 2G which the box states that it "works with iphone" but is "made for ipod." It really was made for the ipod because with my girlfriend's ipod touch 2G in, the remote is able to control pretty much everything as far as entering the menu and scrolling through artists and songs. With my iphone, i have to enter the "ipod" part of my phone manually then the remote will work from there. That's the only con with the iHome really.
But back to the good stuff, the sound is great for something this small. The two alarms are very easy to set and turn off, with options of having it on for the weekdays, the weekends or all week. Setting the time is very easy too. Just choose your time zone and whether or not daylight savings time is on and that's it. Also has a line-in hole for other music players that don't use the ipod connection which could come in handy for some people. The display has a dimming option that lets you go from really bright to really dim and a programmable snooze time. This was a great investment and if iHome ever comes out with upgraded versions that have more cool features, I'm sure I won't hesitate to get it.
Great ProductAug 30, 2009 This is a great product. I had an older version iHome in the past and they've made some really great improvements.
I especially like that you can set both alarms to either the radio, ipod, or buzzer. The old one did not offer that.
I found the 7 days, 5 days, 2 days function a bit confusing at first, but probably should have read the manual before trying it.
The only problem I have is the display too bright when I'm going to sleep. The dimming feature on the older model got a lot dimmer than this one seems to. I'm very sensitive to light when I'm trying to go to sleep so I have to turn it off, which is a bit annoying.
Overall, I'm very happy with it.
Worth the money.Aug 24, 2009 I used an iPod nano with this and it did a great job! The sound was great from the speakers, I gave it 4 stars cause my remote didn't work well.
iHome IP99BR iPod Dock clock radioAug 08, 2009 Does what it's advertised to do. Sound is acceptable. My only gripe is the volume wheel - it sticks, and the surface is too slippery to easily adjust the volume. I may have to put something sticky on it.
