OK so farNov 22, 2009 Had the unit about a month now, so far, no real problems. I don't like the fact that this model does not have a simultaneous clean/rinse option like my previous one had. I used to be able to clean in the forward path, then auto rinse in the reverse path. You now have to scrub first, remove all of the cleaning solution in the tank, then refill with fresh water to rinse. Had I know this prior to purchase, I would not have done so.
What really amazed me was Amazon's shipping, The unit arrived in 2 days and this
was with the free shipping option. Fantastic.
Works As Expected - Exceeded Expectations!Nov 21, 2009 This machine is easy to operate and does a fabulous job. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a carpet cleaner. Looking forward to keeping my carpets clean, much more economical than paying a service and this way I can do it whenever it is needed!
Essential for any home with carpet, indispensable for any home with carpet and pets.Nov 20, 2009 If you have carpets vacuuming is not enough. I don't care if you have the world's best vacuum it can not deep clean. You need a steam-vac. As you can see from the reviews this particular model has been doing a great job for years. I personally have had mine for almost 2 years and it continues to perform exceptionally well.
A few points I wanted to make. It is simple to use. There are two containers. One you put the soap and hot water in. The second collects the sucked up water. Both are easy to take on and off the machine and to clean. Anyone can do it.
Second the steamvac can handle very hot water. I have used another model and the container seemed to melt. This one handles hot water very well. I probably would not fill the entire container with boiling water but you can definitely get pretty hot water into it.
It does take some time to do a large area since you want to go slowly when dispensing the soap/hot water and of course soaking it up. But you WILL see the results. It is actually a bit on the disgusting side to see what comes up but at least you know it is working. With a house of pets like we have, it will not look good but that is just another reason to have this.
Bottom line is it will make your carpet look like new, do a great job on getting hard to get out smells, and save you a lot of money over the years versus the alternatives. This is still probably Hoover's best selling model. We have had ours for 2 years and it is still going strong. Must have if you have carpet.
powerfulNov 20, 2009 this is a powerful machine but noisy too which I think in inevitable. We don't have pet BUT have a 2 year old daughter being potty trained so she forgets to tell from tome to time and using this steam vac things are easy to clean. not too easy because after each clean you need to clean parts and then put it away but I cannot think how it could be done otherwise.
ONLY used it for 2 months so don't know how long it will last yet.
Brushes stop spinningNov 19, 2009 I gave this machine 3 stars because I thought it was one of the better cleaners I have used. I've worked with many different cleaners throughout my life and the 2 most recently owned were Bissell Pro-Heat.
I changed to Hoover because the Bissell seems to break down after 3-5 uses and uses belts that run the brushes and need replaced often. Hoover has no belt and uses an air turbine to run the brushes. I've found out that the turbine can freeze up and costs around $125.00 to replace it taken to a shop. (the actual parts cost $75.00) I've owned this Hoover for 14 months and have used it about 8 times. I paid $150.00 for it so that comes out to $18.75 per use. I guess the thing to do would be view cleaners as disposable and hope to get the most uses out of each one. So, I'm in the market for a new cleaner and came to Amazon to read the reviews before making my decision. Since I was very happy with the cleaning ability of this machine I am tempted to buy another knowing what can go wrong with it, and I would have a backup machine for parts.
One of the downfalls of the machine is that when changing the dirty water be careful to not let the handle go back too far because the clean water will leak out of that tank. Also, as with all machines, it must be thoroughly cleaned out after EVERY use and it is easier to clean than some. The brushes snap out easily for cleaning.
