Heat Exhaustion SaviorSep 01, 2006 We bought this fan late June of 2006, when Los Angeles was in the middle of high 90's and low 100's temperature. When we were shopping for any fan, so we really didn't care what as long as it was a tower design. This has proven to be an awesome investment on our part because it continually out performs our expectations.
We never have trouble doing our work at home, watching movies, hearing each other or sleeping with it on. It makes less noise than any of the ceiling fans, and the traditional oscillating fans we own.
In our +275 sq ft bedroom, it doesn't do a good job of cooling the whole area, but for any room half of that size I would recommend this tower fan for it.
We had the most trouble sleeping at night from the heat. I worried that our bed was too high for the modestly tall fan, but it performs well even when the high profile bed is 2/3rds as tall as the fan.
I wouldn't completely rely on this unit to air filter the room. The Air filtration system is essentially a screen that covers the back of fan. When air enters, dust/pollen is caught on this screen, instead of being circulated back into the room. The screen is washable and doesn't need to be replaced with a new one. Yet, I foresee having to mildly dust the spinning internal barrel before storing it for the season. So far the filter screen has done its job and the barrel has little to no sign of needing a wiping. I don't think this air filter equipped on this product compares to real hepa-type air filters or ionic air filters.
My biggest complaint is probably the remote because the unit isn't very sensitive to receiving the infrared signals from the remote. Often times I'll have to press it once, and press it again harder to change the fan speed or stop/begin the oscillating motion but using the remote is optional, when the operating buttons on top of the unit are the same as the remote buttons. When the remote isn't in use, it snaps into a slot on top of the tower.
In terms of the construction, the plastic is very sturdy and the buttons both on the unit and on the remote don't have any sign of falling off or breaking off. The base had to be attached to the unit and that was a simply assembly move with one traditional screwdriver in less than 5 minutes, otherwise everything just snaps together. There's an option to lower the tower fan so that it's ground level. Attach only the base, and leave the neck off.
Loud!Jul 16, 2006 I just bought this fan and it is too loud! Even on its lowest setting, the noise is a bit much. It does put out a stiff breeze, but I'm not sure it's worth it. My Black and Decker tower fan is better.

Don't Waste Your MoneyMay 08, 2006 Fan stopped working after about 6 uses. Used it 2 hours max each time. Went to turn it on one day and got nothing. Right out of the box one of the lights on the remote wouldn't work. Figured it wasn't a big deal so I didn't send it back. My mistake.
Simply ExcellentDec 23, 2005 Silent and durable. Do not expect too much air though. But if you can put it at most 2 meters aways from you, you will feel a fresh breeze. Highly recommended

Buyer BewareDec 04, 2005 Fan stopped working a week after 30 d warranty expired. Dynadirect wouldn't talk to me & Honeywell people were not only insulting, they demanded I pay for return shipment plus $10 handling fee! Amazon rescued me from this mess & sent my money back.
