500 Watts of Power! WOW!Nov 20, 2009 After a few years of devoted service my Magic Bullet died (RIP). While I loved it, I only used it for smoothies so decided not to replace it (costly for a smoothie maker) but purchase something specifically based on my "smoothie needs". I read A LOT of reviews on blenders after I saw this at Wal-Mart and decided to do a bit of research and what I found was NO ONE offers this much punch for so little money! Made my first smoothie this morning and I don't understand how anyone can complain about this wonder machine! Granted, I washed it first and didn't tighten the "plug" where the dispenser would go (didn't have a need to attach it, pouring is just as easy for me!) so a couple drops came out which I quickly wiped up, tighten the plug and all was well again (actually did that in reverse order)! Also, this is quiet in comparison to my blender before my Magic Bullet and esp. in comparison to the Magic Bullet. My cats and dogs didn't run for the hills and I didn't feel the need to wrap it with four washcloths to dry to drown out a high pitch hum. Also, the plastic pitcher is super-thick and easy to clean! The nice thing is that yes, you can add the dispenser if you were to make mixed drinks and your friends could easily refill their own drinks by giving the blender a quick pulse (the large dial makes use so easy!) to give it a little mix and then using the dispenser! They might run out and buy this too! What a great gift for someone who loves smoothies or having cocktail soirees! And WOW! The price is SOOOOO right! You would do yourself a disservice to spend any more on a blender when this one is top-notch for little cash! And that is my 2-cents!
Great drink blender, esp. for priceNov 17, 2009 I'm really happy with the blender. It blends ice without any problem, makes great drinks. The dispenser feature is really nice. Unlike other dispenser blenders, it leaves virtually nothing in the jar after it's done dispensing. Usually blenders leave at least 1/4 cup because the dispenser spout doesn't reach the base, but the "dispense" setting on the blender churns it slowly but enough to send most of the contents into the dispenser. Of course, you can pour from the jar as well for thicker material.
Although it's not advised in the manual, I've had no problem putting it in the dishwasher. The lid is hard plastic - soft plastic usually distorts in the hot water of the dishwasher.
Maybe not the best multi-purpose blender, as it only has a few drink-related settings. It's suited all of my uses for a blender, though.
Work GreatNov 12, 2009 I research lots of blenders and for the money this one had the best reviews. The wave action technology works great and so far I have had no problems with this blender. I make a smoothie almost everyday with lots of frozen fruit/ice and it blends all of it up every time. Plus there is a 3 year warranty..Great!!
You get what you pay forNov 07, 2009 I wanted a blender to make smoothies. This one can barely blend a banana with ease. I am going to try and return it. If you need to chop more than one ice cube at a time, go elsewhere.
Possibly the best value for the price.Nov 06, 2009 I did hours of research, visiting stores, reading discriptions, asking friends, looking online, reading reviews... I finally took the chance on this inexpensive blender from Walmart. With it's 3 year warranty and Walmarts generous return policy, I figue I could buy 4 of these for the same price as one Kitchenaid if I had to, and still be ahead. I have used it almost daily for 2 weeks, now, and am VERY happy with it. I use it for smoothies and pureeing cooked veggies. The machine has NO trouble with frozen berries or small ice cubes. I'm not going to push my luck with nuts or large ice cubes. I would have preferred this product with a glass canister and without the spout. The spout dispenser is just a germ collector in my eyes, so I was happy to find that the unit comes with a cap that I can use instead of the spout. It has been easy to clean and easy to use. Noisy, yes, but I don't mind since I usually don't make smoothies while my family sleeps. I would have liked a simple safety feature; that the switch locks out if the canister is off. I have to be careful to always unplug the unit as it turns on anytime my kids feel like twisting the button. Thanks to all who wrote reviews on this product and thereby helping me decide on my purchase.
