works pretty well!Nov 20, 2009 I bought this to augment a old heating system in a cottage. I have it in a small living room and it has been quite effective in warming the room and some of the other areas. I am thinking of buying another for my office. It is cheaper to use this in a local area than to heat the whole house.
Great HeaterNov 20, 2009 This heater works very well for me. The timer allows me to leave it in a room and warm it only during certain times of the day. Great for a bedroom, just set it for a couple of hours before bedtime and walk into a nice toasty room, Have it shut off for a bit during the night and back on before you wake up. I never have to go over the lowest wattage either. Others have had issues but so far mine is very goodoil
frank80401Nov 11, 2009 Met all my expectations. Picked this model because of the three heat settings and programmable timer. Followed start up directions by putting it in the garage for an hour, but did not smell any odor.
*Almost* PerfectNov 07, 2009 Works as advertised: quiet; produces heat. If it doesn't heat up the room fast enough, turn on the ceiling fan -- this works wonders (and you should do it anyway).
My only complaints are regarding the user interface: the thermostat and timer work, but the thermostat seems to set the heater to a *heat level*, rather than to a temperature, and the timer is not easy to override. I use the timer to turn the heater on from 4am-6pm, so that the bedroom warms up before I wake up at 6 and stays warm until the evening. If it's an especially cold day and I want the heater to stay on later, this is difficult to accomplish. I find it easier to use a separate, smaller heater for this purpose. For temperature, I use a digital thermometer that I had already to decide when to set the "heat level" on the thermostat.
If you want to avoid these things, you might consider one with a real programmable thermostat (with a digital display, I imagine).
DeLonghi Oil-Filled HeaterNov 07, 2009 Bought the Delonghi oil filled radiator heater for my Mother-in-Law's bedroom. Have only had it about a month, but love it so far. It heats the room much more quickly than I anticipated, keeps the room toasty on the lower power settings. Have the timer set to go on/off at selected times and it works great. We live in the San Diego area, so don't have overly cold weather, but so far love this unit and would highly recommend it for others.
