5Great little grinderNov 16, 2009
I use this grinder for grinding spices. I am sure it would work equally as well for grinding coffee. It works like a charm and is easy to clean. Great product.

2Not worth the price tag.Oct 13, 2009
This is the second grinder I have owned. The first was an old Braun that worked well for years until I lost it during a move. I purchased this grinder because of the seemingly easy to use feature for making coarse, medium, and fine grinds. I was somewhat disappointed when I realized that the difference was only in the duration of the grinding. I was further disappointed when I noticed, particularly with coarse-medium grinds, many of the beans are unground or ground unevenly. In fact, all the grinds are uneven. What I usually get is a mix of really finely ground beans with really course grinds, regardless of how long I grind it. Varying the amount of beans does not improve this. I give this two stars for lack of precision.

5I would give it six stars, if I could!Oct 08, 2009
The DeLonghi DCG39 Electric Grinder, 2.36-Ounce Capacity is ***the*** best coffee bean grinder I have ever used (and I have had quite the collection of them)! The settings are easy to use and precise, and it's attractive looking, too. I liked it so much that I bought one as part of a wedding gift, too. I will buy more as gifts in the future, for my coffee-snob friends and family.

2Not for oily beansSep 23, 2009
I wanted to like this grinder - it just looks so nice on the counter! But unfortunately it doesn't work for the type of brewing we do. We use a coffee press and use French roast beans, which tend to be very oily. I first tested the grinder with regular roast beans and thought it did outstanding! But for some reason the oily beans end up being groud for a longer period of time so what is supposed to be a coarse grind looks more like a medium to find grind (and lots of coffee dust in the resulting brew). Several beans were unground and sitting at the top of the grinder untouched when the coarse light was lit. It's also a challenge to get all the grounds into the coffee pot - not impossible, but the base is very wide and I have to be mindful how I tip the grounds into the coffeemaker. And if I try to tip the grounds into the lid first, they tend to overflow and make a worse mess. It's back to our trust basic Krups until I can find a grinder that'll do a better job with the beans we use.

This little giant belongs in every coffee lover's home or apartment. Its main function is grinding coffee beans and its so described, but more about this product.

It features a set of three lights that light at different intervals during the grinding process and alerts the coffee lover when his grinds are ready for the coffee pot. Drip, perk, or whatever way you prefer to use the grinds, they are ground to your desired consistency. After a few pots of coffee you will know through experience what produces the perfect cup of coffee.

A safety interlock switch prevents the coffee grinder operation until such time the cover is locked in place and a retractable windup power cord makes the unit easier to store or display on a counter top.

This unit I purchased is a replacement for the same make and model I have owned and joyfully used for over five years. When wear and tear does its dirty deed, I will replace it again with an exact replacement. Recommendation from a coffee lover, GET ONE!
