I use my panini grill alot..So easy to use and clean up..Very nice for the price I paid for it from Amazon.

5A Panini a dayFeb 14, 2010
This was the perfect gift for my father in law. He uses it everyday (and i make sure to use it everytime i visit, too). They even use it to make warm salads. Works great, and the paninis are great.

2Bad for Panini, OK for hamburgersFeb 02, 2010
I was looking for .... a panini maker, for top and bottom hot plates to make plate-grilled sandwiches. The problem with this item is that its grill plates have DEEP ridges, so instead of a toasted sandwich what you get looks like a deeply ridged toasted waffle. Or you get destroyed bread. This is sounds trivial, but the things are ugly and unaesthetic. Definitely not the panini of my youth.

If I were buying again I'd get an Imusa Cuban Sandwich Maker

This machine IS a good buy if what you're after is a retro looking George Foreman hamburger grill. It's got deep ridges in the top and bottom plates, which leave nice looking faux-grill marks on hamburger and steaks.

But if what you're hoping for is food that tastes grilled and has the texture of grilled, remember this is not really a grill. It's a hot plate with ridges. Spiral sliced ham, for eg, ends up charred at the "grill" lines and warmish and soggy in between.

5Very Enjoyable Kitchen GrillJan 22, 2010
My husband received this as a Christmas gift and was truly excited to give it a try. The first night he grilled mushrooms, bell peppers and tomatoes (very messy!) and we all took turns making our own sandwiches. My two girls are old enough to cook for themselves so they got a lesson on how to use it as well. Very few nights have gone by that something has not been cooked on this grill. We have cooked everything from bacon (put a small cutting board under the non-lip side and the grease will flow into the little grease cup better) to chicken wings. The chicken wings were the best I have had (my elder daughter said they were really good but tasted a bit "wet"... it took me a while to get her to understand that this little things she called "wet" was actually "moistness"... LOL!). He also cooked all of the chicken parts from the legs on up to the half-breast with the bone-in. We have made polish sausages, stuffed burritos, pork chops, prime rib and I am looking forward to doing country-style bone-in pork ribs. Yes, a smaller grill area does mean a little more waiting time but as I don't have a really big kitchen it works great for me. I am going to purchase another one in the near future as was actually reviewing several different brands when I came across this review link.

Oh, yes, the grease does splatter a bit so make sure the area around the grill is clear or you will be wiping up grease from all the different surfaces. Clean up of the griddle surface is easy. I just use a paper towel with hot water on it when it is warm.
