"Big bang for the buck"Nov 13, 2009 My new Coby CX-CD377 arrived today, and took only 30 minutes to setup. It's very "smart looking". Most important, I enjoy fife and drum music; and, from the high-pitched fifes to the lowest bass drums, the sound quality is EXCELLENT. I had none of the problems mentioned by other critics. Instead, at under $40, I consider the Coby CX-377 to be a real bargain.
Review of Coby CX-CD377 Micro CD Stereo SystemOct 23, 2009 I like the way it looks and sounds. I just wish that I could find a way to listen to it with headphones late at night. I have searched and tried many different AUX connectors and nothing seems to make the sound come through the headphones. I know the headphones work because I use them on other stereo systems and CD players. I had thought about sending it back.
Waste of MoneyOct 18, 2009 I would never buy another Coby product. Believe all the negative reviews. The unit will start humming and then will stop playing. The CD playback was intermittant. The warranty is useless. I wish I read the reviews before I bought mine. After 92 day it is junk.
Simple Technology For Us Back-NumbersOct 08, 2009 Those of us who are stodgy enough that we still by CDs are finding it harder and harder to find the technology to play the music we love. And manufacturers throw us bones like this to keep us happy. This player is adequate for a kid's bedroom or home office, but it is emphatically not a home stereo.
This device does exactly what it claims. It plays CDs or the radio. It does neither particularly well, but if your chief interest is in digging a little background music as you do homework or pay your bills, it's plenty satisfactory. It's small and has a slim profile, so it's unobtrusive, and the CD tray opens from the front, so it can be mounted in a bookshelf or in the desk space where you no longer keep a huge Trinitron computer monitor.
Its speakers are small and have a limited range. The bass is rich and sweet, which makes this a good deal for rock or hip-hop, but the treble is very thin, so this is no place to play country or classical music. For some reason, though the player remembers CDs when it's shut off, it forgets volume settings, which have to be reset every time it's turned on. I will say that this makes an excellent player for white or pink noise.
The remote control is rudimentary. You can't switch between functions, adjust the radio tuning, or open the player tray with the remote. Thus I don't recommend this player for anyone who expects to use it in a large room where they'll need the remote. I keep it on my writing desk, where it has proved plenty functional.
This radio-slash-CD player is good for what it is, but it's nothing special. Its principal selling feature is that it does the basics for a fairly low cost. If your goal is a small stereo for a small space, and you don't demand concert-level fidelity, it's probably a pretty decent buy.

Better than previous radios but not the bestMay 15, 2009 I got this stereo as a Christmas gift last year and if I had to rate between, poor good and excellent, I would give it a good. CD is pretty good but the radio reception is something different. Have to hear majority of radio stations in Mono because the static with the FM is too loud. But the only annoying thing I cannot get rid of the AM type static of hearing stations in the background off. Have to reposition the antenna in 3 different places just to hear the radio. As far as the radio goes, I don't recommend this product if you live in a Dorm but good for home room and apartment use if you live in an actual city. If you live further away a higher quality receiver maybe better. You won't know if you try it first. I will admit its better than the portable radios I've reviewed but I honestly think the reception on this thing could be better. I've played with this antenna more than actually listen to the radio. I wish radioes would stay with the "silver stick" antenna where all you had to do was turn of the stereo not like these wire antennas where you have to reposition constantly. Is anyone having issues with these wire antennas?
