I bought this for our office, we use it constantly with out a hiccup.
good speed, a bit loud, but it is powered by usb only which is really nice.

5Over one year and still scanningNov 09, 2008
The scanner was a low price option for scanning records into digital format. The LiDE70 is over a year old and still working. Vista OS

5Fast ScannerJun 09, 2008
Nice quiet slim scanner. Fantastic quality, works off USB with no external power source, perfect for my laptop.

5Excellent scanning solutionJan 18, 2008
I had previously a Visioneer scanner that used USB power, and while it could scan pages acceptably, the software had some hiccoughs and would sometimes lose a multi-page scan. This Canon is an 'industrial strength' replacement, and scans well and relatively quickly with a very nice software interface. I use it for 'ordinary' scanning (OCR on text (ABBYY, good) and music (Neuratron, expensive and flaky...)), but a great and particular virtue is to be able to take it and a laptop to the library, up into the stacks, and directly copy pages into the computer, rather than either putting quarters in the copy machine or lugging the books home and back.
