Loving itNov 21, 2009 This grinder is much quieter than our previous Braun (which is no longer in business). Since I grind coffee for one cup each morning, I use the timer setting at a very low number. To avoid the static some folks mentioned in their reviews, I always tap on the container before pulling it out.
Very MessyNov 19, 2009 I feel this unit grinds the coffee just fine. There are a number of sizes; however, be ready for a mess. It is impossible to empty this unit without the grounds going everywhere. I put a towel down and it still manages to go everywhere - the floor, next to the towel and on the towel. There are too many areas on the grinder where coffee grounds accumulate - on the lid, where the grinding comes out, when emptying the collection container - it is a mess.
Solid, dependable performer for $ 50Oct 14, 2009 We have owned the Braun burr grinder for many, many years. It's used multiple times daily to grind fresh, whole beans for our insulated stainless steel Nissan french press. Grinds well for our purposes, and we like strong, full bodied coffee. I clean it once in a while. Does retain some powder due to the static, but tapping the container on the rim of our french press releases most of the residue.
I'm looking for a stainless steel look grinder due to a kitchen remodel and have seen lots of reviews of everything from the Brevia to Capresso to Kitchen Aid to Rancilio. The more I read, the more I'm inclined to stick with the Braun until it dies. At least it has none of the faults that critics of all the other brands point out. It's definitely "low end" in today's grinder world, but it's also been a dependable workhorse. Like my el-cheapo 20+ year old Whirlpool dryer, it won't die! So it deserves to live!
Love this mill!Oct 10, 2009 Great for regular coffee and espresso. The best feature is that it does NOT make a mess! I love it! I just wish it came in stainless steel.
Great for coffee, less great for pump espressoJul 21, 2009 Since there are lots of great reviews for the Braun coffee grinder, I'll put in my quick 2 cents.
If you are making coffee (not espresso), this is an excellent grinder with easy to adjust coarseness settings. It's a bit on the loud side though.
If you are looking to grind coffee for a pump espresso machine, keep looking. The grind is not consistent enough and gives a weak espresso since the water easily flows through the coarser parts of the grind.
