 Awesome but not over the top.Nov 21, 2009
I bought the shaver just 4 weeks ago and it is still leaving small patches of hair in random places. Someone had mentioned a post-electric shave balm to use before shaving but i haven't been able to find it, which supposely helps create an ultimate clear shave. For the most part I'm very happy with the razor overall. My favorite is after the cleaning cycle, it smells like lemon citris or something. Its a cool shaving and smelling experience. Anyways, has anyone ever heard of this Post Electric thing?

I have used Braun shavers for years, and figured I'd buy the top of the line in hopes of better performance. Here's what I found.
BUILD
This is the nicest Braun I have used in terms of build. It feels solid and well made. The on/off button is better than the slide up/down switch on my old Braun 8995.
SHAVE
I have been using it for several weeks, and I can safely say it shaves no better (nor worse) than my Braun 8995 (which, if you do some digging, can be found for $140). No complaints, I just was hoping for some noticeable difference in performance. If you are used to using an electric razor, you will find this to be a solid performer. The shave is as close as you are going to get with an electric. (A word of advice for those who haven't shave with an electric...if you switch, despite the wet shave option, it is best to shave when your face is completely dry - like 30 minutes after a shower. The closeness of the shave increases dramatically over shaving before showering or immediately after).
DISPLAY
I think the display is quite a bit worse than the older models. There are two semi-circle bar meters on the bottom of the shaver - one for battery, and one for hygiene (or how badly it needs a cleaning). They are not bright or easy to read. This is pretty primitive compared to the earlier model which had a small display which showed you remaining shaving time, and level of cleaning required. The old one also would tell you when it was time to change the foil and blade (every 18 months). This is a step back that I don't understand.
SUMMARY
This is a good razor, but I am not sure I would bother spending all the extra $$$ on the top model. The older models get the job done, and I presume, the lower cost newer models do as well.

This shaver really gives a close shave. The Pulsonic's viberating head really works to cut the small hairs under the chin that other shaver just push down flat and leave. It is expensive but after using it I would buy it again.

The best shave you will ever have from a non blade razor. I have had and used a Braun shaver for many years and it finally died so I purchased the Pulsonic shaver even though I thought it was over priced. The shaver is so good I think it was a good purchase even at the price I paid.
