5Great Product for Connecting PC to Sound SystemNov 01, 2009
I purchased this unit to play music from my laptop through my stereo system. The sound quality from the headphone output jack on the laptop was not that great, so I hooked up the U-Control to play music through my stereo. The quality of the playback is pretty much perfect without any of the cracks or pops I used to hear. I am not using this for recording, just playback through my stereo. I had hoped to use the optical digital output, but all my inputs have already been taken up by other components. Fortunately, the sound is great with just the analog outputs. The design of the unit supports recording and playback. I would like to see a more compact product for just playback since I don't need the recording capability (hence the 4 vs. 5 stars).

5Get it now!Jul 16, 2009
This little device is more than worth the money. I run a Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1280S Powered Mixer into the Behringer 1202 12 channel desktop mixer($80)into the UCA202 into my computer. The recording is awesome. My recording playback sounds like its live.

I use a lot of Behringer equipment and no, I don't work for Behringer. I'm on a budget. That means little money.

My friends say, "Duh, oh, well, Behringer is built cheap and is junk." And I say, "Duh, huh, really? I've got better sound than you, a lot more equipment to power my show, it has never broken down, and I paid a LOT less than you did."

In fact, I use Behringer XM8500 mics ( 3 pack for $60 ). I was playing a gig at a small pub. A friend who swears by Sure mics asked if he could do a song on my break. I said sure. When he was done, he said, I LOVE this mic. The sound is awesome. Nuff said.

5Cheap and GoodJun 18, 2009
I bought this unit because I needed a way to hook up my laptop into my home theater receiver since my laptop does not have a sound card. This product was perfect and absolutely gets the job done and is cheap! Plus into my laptop via USB, and plugs into my receiver via red and white audio cables. Perfect!

5Great Sound CardJun 08, 2009
Great Accessory Sound Card

I bought this to trick my computer into recognizing two sound cards.

I wanted to transfer records and tapes to my computer hard drive, without having the computer card interfere. This works great.

If you want to use the internal sound card, this provides a separate headphone monitor source, without readjusting the recording volume.

Very inexpensive, and quite small. If necesaary, a built-in preamp (for magnetic cartridge record transfer or mike pickup) would have been nice, but an outboard preamp will work fine. Line sources (VCR, cassette deck) are OK without any preamp.

Finally, it is USB powered. No clunky power supply or wall wart required.

2Does not play well with software that does not support ASIOApr 15, 2009
This is probably a great gadget if your software supports ASIO. If you use something like Goldwave, forget it, no ASIO support so your input comes in as a microphone making volume control very, very hard.

Huge pity.
