fantastic machineOct 31, 2009 I have been the lucky owner of this machine for a year now, and it is fantastic! much value for the money, I really recomend it!
Right Sewing Machine For MeOct 27, 2009 I have been sewing for many years, and recently found myself frustrated with my very basic machine, it was time to take advantage of some new features. I was concerned that the se 350 would not perform well due to the low price, but I have been very surprised. Garment construction is much easier and more precise than expected, and the ability to embroider is fantastic. I do suggest purchasing the PEDesign Light software, the built-in, and down-loadable designs are simply too limited for me.
There is a sensor which is supposed to indicate when the bobbin thread is running out. It doesn't work well, requires special bobbins and is very annoying minus one star.
Sew happy!Oct 26, 2009 I could not be happier with this sewing machine. I upgraded from a 10 year old very basic model Brother machine, and boy what a difference! My favorite feature is the ability to sew without the foot pedal. I have lower back issues and this has increased my comfort greatly when sewing for long periods of time. I have used this now for name embroidery, making small market bags, tag-covered baby blankets and a large quilt that I am currently working on. The only issue that I have run into so far is with the quilt. It does not feed well with the bulk I am trying to push through it, but as quilts are a once or twice a year project for me, I'm not too concerned. This quilt is unusually thick compared to others I have made as well, with regular quilters fabric as the top, a double layer of batting and a furry fabric for the back. Happy sewing!

Great for beginners like me!Aug 17, 2009 This machine has been great so far. I'm a beginner in using a sewing machine so I felt that buying a sewing machine may be too complicated for me to handle; but it actually was easy to use. The instructional CD was VERY detailed and the threading instructions were pretty easy to follow. The machine seems very durable and so far has lasted for the month. My main issue with it is the lack of embroidering design types in the machine and in the website (it's all mostly flowery and "lovey dovey"). Other than that, I have NO regrets purchasing this product.

Best sewing/embroidery machine at this price pointAug 09, 2009 I have three other sewing machines, but wanted to get a machine that embroiders. Something with all the basic sewing stitches so I don't need to switch back & forth. I did a lot of research and was leaning towards Singer because of an infomercial (Futura or the SES1000), but since I already have two Brother machines that are great workhorses, I went with the SE350.
RECOMMENDATION: When you get your machine, spend a couple hours reading the manual, watching the DVD, trying the different stitch options, do some test embroidery, etc. Even though I have Brother machines, this one threads a bit differently and I could see someone who tries to plug & go getting frustrated.
I love the bells & whistles that are new to me because I've been using a 29 year old machine until now. The auto thread cutter is great (press a button and it cuts the thread when you're done sewing). The start/stop button was a breeze to learn (no need to use a foot pedal, although one is included if you want to). The LCD touch screen is WONDERFUL. No more messing with stitch width/length dials to figure out the best stitch. This machine has them programmed in and you only need to make changes if you want to tweak something. Embroidery is surprisingly easy. Just be sure to use stabilizer and good thread.
I bought mine on Overstock - they have them refurbished for $309, with the same warranty, and shipping is only $2.95 (but you can sometimes get a free shipping coupon off the internet). With the money I saved, I'm buying the PED Basic software from Amazon that will let me download more embroidery designs.
All in all, this is a great machine and I'm looking forward to creating lots of beautiful new projects.
