Love it! Love it! Love it!Nov 18, 2009 I live in a 3-story townhome with my DH and 4 cats. I have a full size carpet steamer that works very well. But with 4 cats, there is a lot of "spot here, spot there" type of clean-ups needed in between a full carpet cleaning. Because of some health issues, I have difficulty hauling things up and down the stairs.
This has been the best solution to dealing with those stains and spots that I have ever found. Sure I can get the husband to haul out the huge cleaner for me, or take the Resolve and some towels and work on it for 10-20 minutes, or I can take out this and push a button and in a few minutes...job is done. I was concerned since often there is a dye in pet food that can be hard to removed from carpeting, but this thing handles it like a champ.
It is incredibly easy to fill and empty. The side you fill with solution is clearly marked with lines to show you how much water and cleaner to add. It is easy to dump out and rinse the collection side.
So easy to whip out the hose and use it.
I have used the surface stain and the set in stain settings and both have been very effective. The couple of times a stain didn't come out with the first cleaning I just ran it again and out it came.
I have found I can remove about 5 spots running it on surface stain before I have to refill. 4 if I run it on the set-in stains option or switch between the 2 while cleaning. The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is I did have an issue with the cleaner leaking out when I tried to leave some in for next time. Could be just the way it is or something that I did, not sure at this point. I just store it empty now.
I will add that if you buy cleaner for a full size machine, it may be very concentrated so it will use much less than the cleaner that comes with it and is made for it specifically. In that instance, don't use the fill lines as guides. You will have too much soap.
I have found that I can use this in a room while I take care of other things like some light dusting or straightening up. I love to multi-task!
Bottom line, if you have cats, I'll bet you've got some vomiting going on. Give this a shot. I think you will be pleased, but if not, you can return it.
Works great...for the first time or twoNov 09, 2009 I've had 3 different models of this product and none of them worked more than 3 times. First one came in DOA, no suction to the pump. Returned it for a different one, it worked twice then no more suction. Third one worked a couple of times again, then stopped. Customer service walked me through a few things each time to try to get it to work, but no joy. Finally left the last one on the front porch hoping someone would steal it, but apparently thieves are smarter than I am. Based on the reviews I'm glad there are so many folks happy with the SpotBot, but I wonder how many have used it more than a couple of times. These are not robust enough for me to ever try again.
Excellent!!Nov 08, 2009 This thing rocks!! It does EXACTLY what it says it does. I've never had a stain that it didn't obliterate!! Get it:)
Buy this now!!!Oct 26, 2009 This is the best $130 I have ever spent! My husband and I adopted a puppy about a week ago, and this little miracle has paid for itself already! I have used it on both surface and set in stains and had great results with both. Very user friendly and easy to use. If you use it without the OxyGen cleaner, you can leave the clean water tank filled for quick use, just make sure you empty and clean the dirty tank after each use. I recommended the SpotBot to one of my co-workers and her husband bought it that night and she raved about it all day the following day. Great buy!!!
Wish I hadn't spent the moneyOct 23, 2009 Pros: Handheld attachment works well
Cons: Lack of durability
Difficult to clean
LOUD beeping
Just plain doesn't do a good job
Recommends use of huge quantities of cleaning fluid that make your carpet feel crusty
I bought this product about a year ago, and the first couple times I used it I was fairly happy with the results aside from very crunchy, hard feeling carpet once it dried, though I didn't look too close and I have quite dark colored carpet. I was initially, and remain, extremely annoyed by the incredibly loud and repeated beeping when the clean cycle is finished with no option to disable it. It beeps every couple seconds until you physically go over and turn it off. I don't need that much reminding, and certainly not that loudly (and neither do my downstairs neighbors!)
After a few weeks, the brushes began to make loud grinding noises when operating. Took it apart to the extent I could, cleaned, reassembled. That corrected the issue for another few weeks, but started up again shortly. I decided to ignore it as it seemed to be cleaning still. It is very difficult to clean the machine thoroughly, with lots of little nooks for stuff to get stuck in. It does leave a lot of liquid in the carpet after use, and I quickly learned to avoid recently cleaned spots. However, in addition to leaving behind a lot of water and cleaning fluid, it also leaves behind a lot of the mess you were trying to clean up! While potty training my puppy, there were naturally a few 'accidents'. I found even after running the 'set in' cleaning cycle three or more times over a very fresh spot of urine (from a very small dog!), I could still blot up very obviously yellow urine from the spot. While the carpet looks visibly clean, I think the brushes are mostly just pushing it down into the carpet pad out of sight. Eventually, I gave up and went back to Nature's Miracle and blotting with a paper towel- it seems to get my carpets cleaner than this thing when dealing with pet messes, even if it does take more elbow grease. I kept it for an occassional other type of stain and because I found the hose attachment useful for cleaning upholstery stains.
1 year and about 1 month after purchase, it pretty much totally gave up. It almost entirely stopped spraying, it barely sucks, and it SMELLS despite my best efforts to clean after every use, including rinsing out the dirty water tank with diluted bleach after each use, rinsing the brushes after each use, etc. It is now in my trash can. I seriously regret not returning it shortly after purchase while it was under warranty.
