5Dreamy TurntableNov 19, 2009
After several returns dealing with cheap multi-record players including a radio, CD drive, etc. my boyfriend at I saw this exact turntable at a record store and jotted down the name so we could find it on Amazon. We had no trouble seeing it on this website and delivery was very fast and safe! Thanks!

4great for the moneyNov 02, 2009
I had some reservations about this unit, but I purchased it despite a preponderance of negative reviews regarding mostly turntable speed control. I bought it in July '09 and have been using it regularly (but not constantly) since then. I needed it to replace a mid-1980's Pioneer linear tracking model that had started giving me problems. I needed a compact model to put in the allowed space of my entertainment center. I haven't had any problems with it yet. It works as advertised but to be honest I purchased directly from Amazon.com instead of a partner where I could've gotten it a little cheaper just in case I would need to return it and would rather deal with Amazon. It wasn't all that expensive anyway. To put it in perspective, I paid about the same if not more for my Pioneer in 1988 and still had to buy a cartridge for that one back when.

What I like: it's relatively inexpensive, compact, and does not produce feedback in my application even though I have some speakers located near the unit. I have had no trouble with tone arm skipping or skating even with some of the LPs I have that are warped.

What could be better: the spring-loaded dust cover doesn't really take effect until the lid is raised higher than my entertainment center will allow. As a workaround, I got some adhesive-backed Velcro patches at a craft store and put them on the dust cover at the front corners, and the other side of the patches I stuck to the shelf above the unit. So far, so good. Also, as someone else mentioned, the up/down control for the tone arm is not the smoothest: it's damped nicely on the down stroke, but the up stroke is a little rough.

I would recommend it; though its nothing like the bulletproof models of the seventies, not much out there is unless you really want to shell out some coin.

This is a basically a Sony turntable that's grey, has a better styli that's cheaper and easier to replace, and it's $10 cheaper.

All my records have tracked with ease. Even my worst condition record (dirty and has MANY MANY scratches) hasn't skipped a beat (A Hard Day's Night). Let It Be (the song on the album) is the only thing it has skipped on, but it's so dirty I'm surprised it sounded as good as it did.

The first thing I did when I got it was assemble it and throw on Eye of the Tiger (album) by Survivor (they make others songs you know...) I could hear every little detail on my Sony HT-SS2300 Component Home Theater System and it came alive like no CD can.

Cons: No fine tuning adjustments you can really do unless you buy a slightly taller mat to raise the record and increase tracking force. I don't know why you guys need an Anti-Skating adjuster, nothing I have has made the tone arm jump to the middle of the record.

5Absolutely high end and the bestSep 22, 2009
I'm still astonished by this low priced, high quality turntable. I've owned many turntables in my long life, but never one at this price that surpasses all others. It plays with amazingly low "click" and "hiss", it tracks beautifully on slightly warped records, it never skips and just does a beautiful job. To the reviewer who compained that it can't play warped records, I suggest you go to Goodwill and look for a BSR oldie to play anything that badly warped. You will damage this fine machine by putting weight on the tone arm!

Doing so will wear out the stylus. This is a bargain, I've seen it sold at other sites for TWICE the price I paid Amazon for it. Vinyl lives forever! This one is even better than the one I replaced it with, I love it.

5Works Great!Aug 24, 2009
I have been playing many of the thousands of LP records since I got this excellent turntable a week ago! Playing an Lp is now as easy as playing a CD. I love the convenience of the turntable turning itself off when the side of an LP is done! Sound quality is excellent. If you have LPs buy one of these Audio Technica turntables.Play your LPs with this turntable and a recent stereo receiver/amp and you won't notice much difference from your CD player.
