I have high school basketball tapes that I'm converting to DVD's. The software that came with this helps clean up the video and restore color and clarity. It is pretty simple to use, but make sure you have an external hard drive or a lot of memory on your computer in order to edit video.

Item is not high end quality but item does what I needed and produced satisfactory results. Very easy to use with included software. I had to return the device to Amazon since after about 3 hours of use the video output to the PC began flashing every second along with some video noise...then video would freeze. This transposed into the recordings as well.
Second unit is on its way from Amazon which is why I am bumping the customer service rating up to a 5. Amazon's replacement policy is the BEST !!!!! Most places would charge you shipping to return the defective product and would wait until the defective product is received back before shipping a new one. I simply used Amazons online return service, printed the prepaid shipping label and dropped off at the post office. Recevied an email the next day stating that my replacement has been shipped.
Oh...and the initial shipment of the product was overnight(free). Simply awesome compared to the other online retailers!! My loyalty lies with Amazon from now on as I have never had an easier (BS-free) RMA experience. Thanks Amazon !!

bought this device and regret it!...cd driver never work, first i thought it was my driver, so i went i bought another similar thing from radioshack and its been working flawlessly (including the cd driver with arcsoft software also). have been called and send email....the phone call of course useless...never recieved reply, the email have 2 responses and the 2nd response is..." I do not quite understand your question"!!. my question was so simple.....make this device to work!!!

I have spent many hours over the last two weeks trying to use the ADS Tech DVD Xpress DX2 Video Converter. I have tried sending the video directly to disc and direct to hard drive. All attempts have failed. The capture freezes within a few seconds to a few minutes. I have disconnected all USB devices other than my mouse to eliminate any possible interference without success. I have become totally frustrated in tiring to use this product. I have asked ADS for help and received no response. I am ready to give up and return the product.

If I could give this product, and the company that makes it, less than 1 star, I would. I should have been tipped off by the number of reviews that knocked this product for "bugs." I was never able to use it because the installation CD was defective. Customer support is embarrasingly bad. If you call, regardless of time of day, you get an outgoing message saying "we are experiencing a heavy call volume, please leave a detailed message and we'll get back with you within 48 hours." After hearing this repeatedly, all times of the day and evening, over several days, I finally left a detailed message with two different phone numbers for callback (both with voicemail). I never received a callback. I tried downloading what appeared to be the driver and other softward for this product from the ADS Tech website. The software downloaded but would never open and install. I created an account on their website for customer support. I received one response, in the beginning, saying I needed to check and make sure that the driver had loaded from the installation CD. I had made it very clear in my initial contact message that nothing loaded from the CD because it was defective. After making five more submissions requesting a reply and a new (functioning) installation CD from them, I still never received any other responses from their customer service through their website. After many emails to them, I finally received one response saying a new installation CD would be mailed out that day via, UPS. After two weeks I had received nothing. I sent another email asking for the shipping code supplied to them by UPS so I could track the shipment and find out what happened to it (knowing, of course, that they'd never shipped it) - I have never received a response to that email. The company I purchased it from, online, was nice enough to allow me to send it back for a refund (by this time is was up to the 30-day return policy the company has). Avoid this product specifically and any dealings with ADS Tech generally - you're in for a lot of wasted time, frustration and heartache if you do.
